Steel Targets – made from AR500 steel

PEASE NOTE: ALL steel plate targets are a limited stock item and new orders can take up to 4 weeks as I’m at the mercy of my suppliers who sometimes sit with material shortages or union issues. A minimum shooting distance of 7m is required to engage plates. IE Do not stand closer than 7m when using pistol calibers and a min of 20m is recommended for rifle calibers. Please make sure the plates are within the required distance from a back wall at your range, usually between 3m and 5m.

The TATAMi Stand system has been in development for over 3 years and is by far the quickest and easiest way to setup your range for some steel shooting fun. There are 3 stand options

1.  TATAMI Spike (which has different length uprights available, allowing you to quickly adjust your setup and target height) Hammer is required to drive spike into ground
2.  TATAMI AG Stand (AG = ABOVE GROUND) This is a flatpack design that sets up without a hammer on any flat surface in under 30s
3.  CROW Spike stand – This is a great starter stand. Hammer is required to drive spike into ground, hang plate and start shooting

TATAMI Spike setup – This system uses a spike, also made from AR500 steel, that needs to be driven into the ground with a hammer. The upright of your choice is then joined with a drop in link and topped off with your plate of choice. There are 4 upright lengths to choose from – 40, 60, 80 and 100cm. Secondary plates can be added to the upright with an arm link plate mount that slots into the body of the upright as can be seen in the photos. Multiple different setups can easily be obtained with this system.

TATAMI AG STAND – AG stands for ABOVE GROUND. This is a “flatpack” stand design, that stands above ground, for quick setups or use on surfaces that are either too hard or too wet. Assembles and dissembles within seconds. These interlocking steel panels are also made from AR500 steel for a lifetime of service. They come with 2 bolts that can lock the whole system securely into place. You need an upright that slots into the stand to be able to hang plates.

CROW SPIKE STAND – This is a solid one piece 8mm thick spike stand that needs to be driven into the ground with a hammer. Its made made from ultra durable AR500 steel. It can accept plates at the top or get an extra plate mount to hang them lower on the stand or add in an arm link for multiple setups. With this you just need to add plates.

Plates are laser cut from AR500 steel as are the support stands and other extra items. These 8mm plates have been tested to withstand .223 rounds at 48m with no visible denting or marking. Plates have to be turned every 1500 rounds to prevent panning. We recommend 8mm for handguns up to .357mag and 10 mm for bigger calibres. Any larger or custom sized plates (10mm or thicker gongs etc.) need to be special ordered via email.

Order a plate, then a stand and any extras you might need. Extra mounts or stands can also be ordered. The TATAMi spike ships with a link plate that is needed for the uprights. You need to order a stand system together with at least one upright to get started, you can always get extra uprights at a later stage.

Plates are supplied with a high tensile strength steel bolt, shock absorber and metal mount that slots into the upright stand system.

Shipping of plates to other areas of the country might carry some extra shipping charges due to weight of plates. 12kg box is around R300 to Pretoria.
